Port Charlotte Florida is located directly north of Punta Gorda and south of Sarasota and Northport; to the northwest of Port Charlotte is Englewood. Port Charlotte is bordered by Charlotte Harbor, the Peace River and the Myakka River. Convenient public boat ramps dot the area. There are a many golf courses in the area.

Families and retirees find that Port Charlotte has much to offer. The Town Center regional mall, Sam's Club, Super Walmart, Marshalls, Home Depot and other major shopping chains and restaurants are conveniently located in Port Charlotte. Major medical facilities and doctors offices are conveniently located in Port Charlotte and surrounding areas.

A wide choice of housing is available in Port Charlotte. Prices range from under $160,000 for small homes. Areas such as Grassy Point Estates have home prices exceeding one million dollars.

Some areas of Port Charlotte do not have deed restrictions or restrictive covenants. Some areas of Port Charlotte do not have public water and sewers. Certain areas are designated on the County plan as pending sewer locations. You should be aware of the cost of sewers if you are considering purchasing a property in a pending sewer area.

If you are purchasing a lot in Charlotte County, you should be aware that certain areas are classified as environmentaly sensitive, such as scrubjay habitat territories.

Harbor Heights is a river access older community where you'll see 30 year old homes being torn down and replaced with high priced homes.

Charlotte Harbor - communities bordering the Harbor are in high demand. Waterfront property has been an excellent long term investment.

Deep Creek is a deed restricted community which was developed by Punta Gorda Isles in the 1980's. This is a non-gated community of single family homes and condos. All have city water and public sewer. Deep Creek has a golf couse. It has good schools and is located along I-75 for easy commuting.

There are a number of areas in Port Charlotte to consider, Section 15 is a lovely area of newer homes in the Peachland area, very convenient to major shopping areas and highways.
The New York section is very convenient to central Port Charlotte and offers excellent value in a quiet yet centrallly located section of Port Charlotte close to hospitals, doctors offices, shopping and US41.
Port Charlotte Beach, often referred to as the "beach area" has its own park and waterfront recreation area. This is prime deep water boating location, very centrally located.
The Grassy Point area is a lovely older deep water access neighborhood on Charlotte Harbor. It is also home to the outstanding newer guard gated community of Grassy Point Estates. Grassy Point Estates is a beautiful waterfront community of million dollar plus homes. The area is centrally located off Edgewater Drive.
As you head west on Edgewater, you'll reach the lovely deed restricted area on O'Hara. Here you'll find large newer homes many of them having wide water views. The nearby streets have lovely waterfront and off water homes. Nearby is the Charlotte Harbor Yacht Club 4400 Lister Street, Port Charlotte, Fl 33952 , phone 941-629-5131.
As you head toward northern Port Charlotte, you'll see a variety of homestyles. Route 776 and US 41 is the major intersection shopping area with the regional, Town Center Mall. Recently many furniture store chains have opened stores in the area. Port Charlotte's latest additions are Baers and a new Rooms to Go is under construction.
On Route 776, you'll see the entrance to Riverwood, a beautiful gated golf course community of condos, villas and estate homes.
Port Charlotte FLoridaThe picture at left was taken near the Fishery Restaurant at Lemon Bay. Many people take their boats over to the restaurant. There are quaint little shops on the property.
There are many area attractions, restaurants and good shopping nearby. The area has numerous golf courses. Of course, the water is the main attraction in Southwest Florida and outdoor acivities abound.
One of the great things about the Port Charlotte- Punta Gorda - Englewood area is the fact that there are a number of public boat ramps and marinas. There are affordable off water houses in Port Charlotte and surrounding areas that allow you to keep your boat on your property. As always, you must contact the County regarding local regulations to see if there are restrictions in place.
I encourage you to rent a boat, or take a boat tour from Captain Ralph's King Fisher fleet in Fishermans Village in Punta Gorda, to see Charlotte Harbor up close. The fishing is great here, you'll find many different species available at various times of the year. The Tarpon Tournament is a major area event. Boca Grande Pass is called the tarpon fishing capital of the world.

Speaking of entertainment, there is a multiplex cinema at the Town Center Mall. Port Charlotte is located within 45 minutes of the theatres and performing arts centers of Sarasaota, such as the Van Wezel, the Asolo Theatre and the Sarasota opera and the Symphony.
Some of the world's most beautiful beaches are in the area; Siesta Key, Manasota Key, Boca Grande, Englewood Beach and more.
Port Charlotte is also within an hour of Fort Myers, where you'll find excellent shopping and restaurants; the Barbara B. Mann Center for the Performing Arts, the Thomas Edison House and many more attractions.
There are many beautiful beaches in the Fort Myers area. Sanibel and Captiva are not to be missed. Fort Myers beach is popular with the kids. Further south you'll find Bonita Springs and Naples.
